Keep a Torch at Hand - It Could Save Your Life

Torches are so common these days - you can get them from almost any type of shop including the local grocers (yes, I've seen them next to the carrots!), but do you have one in the office and does everyone know where it is? More importantly, does it have batteries? Do you know it will switch on if needed?

Because torches are now so common, we've almost become throw-away in our attitude to them and so we know they're about but we don't actually discover they don't work until we come to use them.

There are many reasons why we might need them too, so it's best to keep one close at hand. As we move into winter, they become even more useful as a power cut in the afternoon could very easily plunge the office into darkness.

Even though most offices will now have emergency lighting that will come on in the event of a fire or other disaster, there is every chance it could fail too. If there's no power at all, your lights will go off and the emergency ones may only last for a short while as the batteries run down.

Also, if you suffer a flood (ever more common these days), would you really want to be walking around in pools of water with electricity running? It's usually the first thing to be switched off when the fire brigade turn up so you'd better be ready, and a bunch of candles won't help too well either.

Luckily, there are so many options available that it really is no excuse not to have some kind of torch at easy hand in the workplace.

As with most areas of the workplace these days, they've also become extremely efficient and with the advent and lower cost of LED technology, they not only last longer but they also take less power to run and so you will very rarely find yourself without power when you need it most.

They are also extremely robust and many of the better torches will boast a high water-resistance and in some cases full water proofing.
